Hyper is from the Greek word huper which means over/beyond. When left dangling, hyper is just that: over and beyond. Not over or beyond anything exactly—and most certainly not over and beyond any particular—hyper is just a sort of frenzy, agitation, unsettledness, malcontent. Without the will as impetus, hyper is merely the headless chicken in a moment of exuberant dance.

Spontaneity, on the other hand, comes from the Latin sponte, or "of ones own accord." Those whom are afflicted with huper can never be attenuated enough to know sponte.
